ABOUT NORTH & MIDLANDS RACING CLUB
The club was originally established in 1980 (then known as North West Racing Club) when there was a boom in regional racing clubs being formed. In those days the flow of information was less available to the public so racing fans were always keen to meet up to discuss racing issues, particularly before big meetings were held such as the Cheltenham Festival.
As time went by the club found it was attracting members from further afield and decided to change its name to Northern Racing Club although today we have many members from Scotland and Wales also as well as the Midlands/Southern England.
As the Midlands Racing Club folded some years ago, and we now get more members living in the Midlands, the club decided to change its name to North & Midlands Racing club with effect from 1st October 2018. The term North & Midlands is meant to reflect the whole of the UK (apart from the South of England) so does include members who live in either Scotland or Wales!
We also hold events with local racecourses as well to expand our activities across a wider area. Also, since the demise of Yorkshire Racing Club in 2019, we are now working with 'Go Racing In Yorkshire' to promote our activities in the 'White Rose' county.
We like to think that all members can enjoy the range of membership benefits on offer such as our bi monthly racing magazine, members-only racing data bases, club competitions, stable visits and racecourse visits. We also now have an informal link with Wales Racing Club and arrange reciprocal stable visits with them in the South West & Midlands.
As from 2026 we shall have two forms of membership:
(1) FULL MEMBERSHIP - for 2026 this will cost £12pa and will include one complimentary £10 'e-voucher' to use as an entry fee for any club competition or the club's monthly 59's draw. Full members will also be given a password in 2026 to allow full access to all of the club website pages. Other family members at the same address can also be added to this membership at no extra cost (but do not receive an e-voucher). As a one off, full members will be asked to complete an application form so that the club can update its membership records - in future years no forms are required for renewals (unless any changes to contact details etc). NB As from 1st February 2026, only those named on Full Membership forms will be eligible to enter club competitions.
You can download the membership form here in 'pdf' format and then print off (to return in the post with a cheque) or you can e mail the same information to our membership secretary, Helen Goodwill, at [email protected]
and then send payment to the bank account detailed on the form (NB please only use this bank account for membership subscriptions).
Once the membership form and payment are received you will receive a confirmation with details of your new NMRC membership Number and how to use your 'e-voucher' and also the NMRC website password to use with effect from 1st March 2026.
(2) ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP - this will continue to be free and for all existing 'free members' and no action is required unless your contact details need updating or you wish to unsubscribe from the mailing list. You will continue to receive an e-mail alert (no more than one a month) advising of club activities/competitions etc so that if they are of interest you can then upgrade to full membership at a later date.
Associate members can still join our free to enter 'ITV7' Monthly Competitions and also the club's Monthly 59's draw but for other competitions a full membership is now required. Access to our Facebook and WhatsApp groups will also still be available to Associate Members.
From 1st March 2026, limited access will still be allowed on the club websites but the racing data bases comprising of Drawfacts, Festival Guides, Trainer Traits and similar information then becoming password protected.
