ABOUT NORTH & MIDLANDS RACING CLUB

The club was originally established in 1980 (then known as North West Racing Club) when there was a boom in regional racing clubs being formed. In those days the flow of information was less available to the public so racing fans were always keen to meet up to discuss racing issues, particularly before big meetings were held such as the Cheltenham Festival.

As time went by the club found it was attracting members from further afield and decided to change its name to Northern Racing Club although today we have many members from Scotland and Wales also as well as the Midlands/Southern England.

As the Midlands Racing Club folded some years ago, and we now get more members living in the Midlands, the club decided to change its name to North & Midlands Racing club with effect from 1st October 2018. The term North & Midlands is meant to reflect the whole of the UK (apart from the South of England) so does include members who live in either Scotland or Wales!

The club still holds meetings whenever possible and for our Cheltenham Preview at Haydock Park we attract our best event turnout of the year with around 200 people  attending. We now hold events with local racecourses as well to expand our activities across a wider area. Also, since the demise of Yorkshire Racing Club in 2019, we are now working with 'Go Racing In Yorkshire' to promote our activities in the 'White Rose' county.

We like to think that aside from the actual club meetings (still mainly held in North West where majority of members are from) that all members can enjoy the other membership benefits on offer such as our bi monthly racing magazine, members-only racing data bases, club competitions, stable visits and racecourse visits. We also now have an informal link with Wales Racing Club and arrange reciprocal stable visits with them in the South West & Midlands.

As from the launch date of the new N&M Racing Club on 1st October 2018, we are offering free online membership for both new and renewal memberships. The free membership will run until further notice so no annual renewals are required. To join all you need to do is send an e mail request to info@northernracingclub.com including your name(s) and contact details (ideally an email and postal address). You will then become a registered member and given a password for the members only sections of the website. You will also be given reminders when the next club magazine is available to download.

The club will also continue to provide a paid membership for those who prefer to receive copies of the club magazine by post. There will now be a simple £12pa fee (per address) to cover the cost of the printed magazine for those living in the UK. For overseas members an extra fee will be required to cover the extra postage costs. As from 1st October 2018 no new life or 5 year memberships will be accepted. Our membership year for these postal subscriptions still  runs from 1st March annually.

E vouchers were previously issued to members who received their magazines 'electronically' and existing life and 5 year memberships (where magazines taken electronically) can continue to claim an e voucher worth £5 each year until their subscriptions expire.

Existing/new members who wish to renew/join and receive paper copies of the magazine can obtain  membership form by completing the contact form below.
